‘Blizzard at Sea’ are in the final stages of polishing off their second EP and were nice enough to let me have a quick listen to it.
Once again this band brings a mostly instrumental post-metal album which dances between atmospheric background music to 100% engaging, demanding your full attention.
‘Accelerating Returns’ is a great opening track as it fully displays all this band has to offer. The track slowly builds before unleashing their familiar tortured vocals all while showing their ability to weave sludge and atmospheric metal together.
When ‘The Technological Singularity’ rolls around you can tell the band are warmed up and ready to show off their skills. It’s all about chopping and changing, bringing different elements together at a fast pace, challenging you to keep up.
‘Longevity’, the longest track, has a more atmospheric feel. Offering some clean vocals at the beginning before bringing back their sludgier side once again.
The band have decided to fund the EP by starting a kickstarter and are currently just under $800 shy of their target which is 9 days away. I highly recommend you put some money toward this project as this band once again have produced a fantastic EP that does not sacrifice quality whatsoever.
They have put a sneak peek on Soundcloud if you would like to check it out for yourself.
